Happy 40th Phoenix Primary School!

On Friday 30 October, Phoenix Primary School chose to celebrate its 40th year of operation inviting any ex-students, staff or parents to attend an assembly at school and a social evening later which was held at the Cockburn Cricket Club.

The turn up of old and new faces at both venues was tremendous, with four of the original teaching staff being present as well as many other members of the school family.

At the end of the assembly and at the end of the evening there were many very happy people who felt what a great day they had enjoyed.

Thank you to the many contributors before and on the day. Your assistance was amazing!

A common sentiment expressed was that the school 'felt the same' as it did in past years.

Mr Ron Addison

"A note on the school website today states that despite 40 years of vast change and stability, the ethos and character of the school remains as always, as does its achievement in many different areas of education.

Just as Phoenix rose from the flames in Greek Mythology, Phoenix Primary School as we know it today has arisen from a barren sand patch in Hamilton Hill due to the efforts of many outstandingly dedicated staff, parents and students over the 40 years.

Girls and boys, you have a wonderful school, enjoy it while you are here and hopefully you will treasure it just as much as many other past students and staff currently do."

Phoenix Wins again!

In our 40th Year of operation, Phoenix again won the local athletics carnival. We have won many times before, but last Thursday was particularly unexpected .

Well done to all our athletes who tried extremely hard and never gave up. We did very well in team games, winning the Teamwork Shield once more, particularly in Zig- Zag relays. Then overall we won the whole competition, receiving a second shield.

Three of our students did really well for themselves, Chloe (Yr 4) being runner-up Intermediate Champion Girl, Aimee runner up Senior Champion Girl and Liam being equal Senior Champion Boy.  These were brilliant efforts by these children. All other children gave of their best as well.

Once again, congratulations to the Mighty Phoenix Athletics Team, a victory well deserved.

Drumbeat Quest

Congratulations to us! We have been successful in being funded by the Fogarty Foundation for the implementation of the Drumbeat Quest program.  Principal, Mrs Margaret Pretty wrote the submission and it was a long wait to see if we were successful.  Our music specialist, Mrs Judy Sakalidis will be the facilitator for Drumbeat Quest.
