House Athletics Carnival

Well done to our amazing Year 3's for their efforts in the sports carnival on Thursday September 14. A big thank you to all the parents that came down to cheer us on and a massive thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to assist with judging or in the canteen.

You can view the photos in the Gallery above.

Congratulations to our year threes for achieving either "High Progress" or "Very High Progress" in Numeracy and/ or Reading. These special certificates were presented at the last assembly to the students  pictured below. Miss Read and I are extremely proud of you all.

Extra congratulations to Aleksei for also receiving a special certificate from Mathletics for outstanding performance during the year.

Year 3 NAPLAN news

Our year threes achieved fantastic NAPLAN results, scoring above the state level and above other like schools.  They had outstanding results in each of the five areas of Numeracy, Grammar, Reading, Spelling and Writing.   Congratulations to all our year threes on the wonderful effort that they put into all their work.

We had a year three NAPLAN congratulations party this afternoon in B4.   As you can see by the photos a great time was had by all!

B4 solve a mystery!

B4 were extremely lucky to be able to attend a hands-on Forensic Science program in week 4 - term3! Students were told of the murder mystery and were given 90 minutes to solve the crime. There were plenty of activities to complete including analysing crime scene photos, checking fingerprints, using microscopes and even building towers of DNA. It was fantastic to see students using their problem solving and teamwork skills in the race to find the code for the safe.

Well done to Shenica for being the first student from B4 to unlock the safe. A big thank you to the P&C for taking care of the cost of this Incusion. At the end of the session one of our very own B4 students was found to be the key suspect..can you guess who it was?

Fire Safety Incursion

All the year threes took part in the very informative Fire Safety session.  The officers came on Wednesday August 2 from 2.00 pm till 3.00 pm.  They took it in turns to cover different aspects of Fire Safety and encouraged the children to work with their parents to create a fire escape plan for their home.  The children found it exciting  having a turn at using the fire hose!  Each child had a turn. A special thank you to Station Officer Mark Graham from the B Platoon Fremantle Fire Station.

B4 were very, VERY excited for their Edudance class today!

Cross Country

What a day! We had lots of fun cheering on the other year groups and competing in our Year 3 races. While there were a few nerves at the starting line, all students competed to the best of their ability. We had a very close finish in the boys race and some fantastic runners in the girls. All students should be proud of their efforts and for cheering on their houses in a positive way.  Thank you to all the parents who came down to watch and cheer us on. It was a great day!

Term 2 Science

This term we have been focusing on 'Heat' in Science and the different methods of heating up a substance.

Our B4 students have been excited to learn about Convection, Conduction and Radiation through our Science investigations.

We had fun learning about Radiation today in our 'Popcorn' themed investigation.

We had some brilliant partner discussions and even follow up investigation ideas, which I am sure they would love to share with you!

West Coast Eagles Visit

We were lucky to have a visit from some Eagles players today! The children enjoyed asking them some questions about their time in the AFl and we played some games outside with them. Sam Mitchell, Luke Shuey and Fraser McInnes joined us for an afternoon of footy fun!

HBF Run for a Reason

Homework for B4 students includes learning their times tables and reading their Lexile book on a regular basis.   The online comprehension quiz for the Lexile reader needs to be done at school. We also set tasks on Literacy Planet, Mathletics and Study Ladder that  can be done at home.  The expectation is that your child will complete at least a total of five tasks per week.  If you do not want your child to do homework please notify us in writing. If your child cannot access the internet at home - please let us know so that your child can have priority to use the computers in our class from 8.30 - 8.45am.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact us.  Thanks,  Maria ( Mon, Tues and Wed) and Christie (Thurs and Fri)
